Leo H. Doiron 86 a long time resident of Schuler St., died Monday at the Greenwood Center following a short illness. He was born in Sanford June 11, 1920 a son of August & Ernestine (Demers) Doiron. He was educated at the former Holy Family school. Mr. Doiron was employed as a carpenter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 27 years retiring in 1986. Following retirement he also did carpentery work at the former Pease Air Force Base in Newington, NH. He owned & operated the former Leo's Lunch on Emery St. and was a projectionist at the former State & Capital theatres. As a teen Leo worked as a woodsman. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, fruit trees, fishing, hunting, woodworking and homing pigeons. A life long resident, he was a long time faithful communicant of St. Ignatius Church where he attended daily morning mass. He was a WW II Army veteran . He was member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Elks Lodge 1470, Amvets, 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, and the D.A.V.Survivors are two sons, Roland Doiron and his wife Pauline of Sanford , Rene Doiron and his wife Judy of Lebanon, five sisters, Aurore Normand and Lucille Perron both of Sanford, Jean D'arc Doiron of N. Berwick, Theresa Louisville of Colorado, and Yvette Cormier of Diette New Brunswick. Ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a great great grandson.Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 :00 AM Thursday in St. Ignatius Church, with interment to follow in St. Ignatius cemetery.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
