Leo Aime DesRoberts, 88, of Sanford, died on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Newton Center in Sanford following a brief struggle with cancer.Leo was born on January 19, 1926 to the late Lucien and Amanda (Boisjoli) DesRoberts in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. After completing his term in the military Leo returned to Sanford went to work in the Goodall Worsted Mills until they closed in 1955. He was then employed at WASCO and then Cyro where he stayed for 33 years until his retirement. After he retired he volunteered at the Newton Center praying the Rosary every Wednesday for 17 years.Leo was predeceased by his brother, Roland DesRoberts, his son, Ronald DesRoberts and his son-in-law, Richard M. Mee.Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sarah (Desrochers) DesRoberts of Sanford; a daughter, Elaine (DesRoberts) Mee of Acton; a daughter-in-law, Monique (Pepin) DesRoberts of Sanford; five granddaughters; several great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two step- great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 6th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
