N. Carol Day

N. Carol Day, 82, of Springvale, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Carol was born in Portland on June 24, 1930 to Louis and Nellie St. Pierre. She grew up in Westbrook and attended local schools, graduating from Westbrook High School in 1948. Shortly after graduating she married Richard E. Day. Together they raised two children and shared 56 years of marriage until his death in 2004Carol devoted her life to caring for her family and her home. She enjoyed reading, knitting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an animal lover and liked to watch the birds and spend time outdoors. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed.Carol was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Day.Surviving are two children, Susan C. Day and her companion Archie Thibeault of Springvale and Richard B. Day and his wife Susan J. of Alfred; five grandchildren, Shon Martel and his wife Tina of Sanford, Shay Lawrence and her husband Al of Sanford, Shain Martel and his wife Jenn of Sanford, Adam Day of South Portland and Leah Cochrane and her husband Timothy of Springvale and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Lucien, Arianna, Averee and Grace.Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook where a graveside service will be held in the spring.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, P.O.
