It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Davis, 67, of Sanford, Maine, on November 14th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 17, 1953. She grew up with her family and 11 brothers and sisters. After years of living in California, her family moved cross-country to Acton, Maine.Mary met her husband, William Davis, in 1981 and were married on August 15, 1986. They were married for 34 years and raised two daughters together. Soon after graduating high school, Mary was employed by Sprague Electric for thirty years, where she made many lifelong friends. After Sprague's closing, Mary chose to continue her education at York County Community College and obtained her Associates Degree. She then spent five years working in the Sanford School District as an Ed Tech. After retiring, she continued to work as a substitute teacher. Mary had a smile that could light up a room anywhere she went. She was kind, caring, generous, giving, and would always be there for anyone who needed her. She loved to bake for her family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed tending her gardens, taking care of her dogs, and playing cards with her siblings. She could be found on weekends searching for treasures at yard sales. Mary and her husband also shared every Sunday morning together at their favorite breakfast spot. She was so proud to be the best Nana to her three grandchildren. She loved every minute she had with them. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Mary is survived by her husband William Davis of Sanford, her daughter Christie Stone and her husband Christopher of Springvale, her daughter Tammy Corliss and her husband Patrick of Sanford, and her three grandchildren Sophia, Noah, and Ava.There will be no services at this time.
