Bruce G. Cousens

Bruce Gordon Cousens, 67, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday November 9, 2006, at the Maine Veterans Nursing Home in Scarborough. He was born in Kennebunk, on April 17, 1939, a son of Thomas W. and Irene E. (Field) Cousens.Following his graduation from Sanford High School in 1959, he then served his country in the U.S. Navy four years. In 2001 he retired from Sprague Electric with 33 years of service with the company.He enjoyed following and playing sports, having coached and played for the Lafayette Club Softball Team as well as being a member of the Men's Bowling League.He was a member of the Sanford Elk's Lodge, Wolve's Club, Sanford and Springvale Social Clubs, and Lafayette Club where he will be deeply missed by his fellow cribbage players. In most recent years he enjoyed and did much reading.He is predeceased by his parents, as well as one son, Mark Cousens who passed away in 1986. He is survived by two sons, Michael Cousens and his wife, Deanna of Springvale and Steven Cousens and his wife, Kelly of Kennebunk, one brother, Tom Cousens of Springvale, one sister, Rebecca Bean of Waterboro, one granddaughter, Alexis Cousens, three nephews, Adam Bean, Scott and Jason Cousens, one niece, Melissa Bean, great niece, Lacey Bean, great nephews, Zachary and Ethan Bean, as well as a special friend (P.P.)Visiting hours will be on Monday November 13th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale, where a funeral service will held on Tuesday at 2pm.
