Allen H. Courtemanche

Allen H. Courtemanche, 91, of Sanford, passed away on Monday November 3, 2008 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born on September 15, 1917 in Winchendon, MA, a son of George J. and Laura M. (Gamelin) Courtemanche. He attended local schools in Winchendon. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.For 12 1/2 years he was employed at L.S. Starrett Precision Tools in Athol, MA. He then worked 22 1/2 years at GEM Industries in Gardiner, MA retiring in 1979. That same year he moved to Sanford and became a communicant of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and a member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans).He is predeceased by his wife, Jeannette Courtemanche, two brothers, Fernando and William Courtemanche, two sisters, Nellie Kallio and Pearl Adams.He is survived by one brother, Barney Courtemanche of Winchendon, MA, and fiancee, Mary 'Toni' Lavertue of Sanford.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 6th from 5 to 7 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish- Holy Family Church in Sanford.
