Frederick H. Coughlin
Frederick H. Coughlin, 87, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday October 21, 2018 at the South Portland Nursing Home. He was born in Damariscota, Maine on November 10, 1930 a son of the late Francis and Charlotte (Fisher) Coughlin. He served in the Marines Corps during the Korean War.On November 23, 1952 he married Jean Hayford and together shared 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2017. They enjoyed traveling and taking day trips throughout Maine and New Hampshire.His career in the Auto Parts Industry spanned many years. From early on he was gifted and quickly acquired the knowledge, expertise and technical skills which led him to manage several locations in southern Maine and New Hampshire. Fred was a walking encyclopedia when it came to anything having to do with auto issues, conflicts and how to remedy the situation.He had an extensive collection of model size trains in his home which started out as a hobby becoming a passion of his. He also enjoyed his music and could be often seen listening to Johnny Cash or Eric Clapton.He is survived by his children, Pamela Durgin and her husband, Mark of Springvale, Bethany Reed and her partner Jeff Hooper of Wells, Tricia Dugre and her husband, Marc of Sanford, Kevin Coughlin and his wife, Deb of Kittery, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister Constance Laflamme and her husband Marcel, one brother, James Coughlin.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 25th at 1PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
