Margaret T. Cote, 96, a lifelong resident of Springvale, died Sunday evening at her home where she had resided for 93 years.She was born in Springvale on May 7, 1922, the daughter of William and Louisa (Sevigny) Trottier. She attended Sanford parochial schools and was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School.As a younger woman, she worked for a time in some of the local mills, but most of her life she was a devoted wife and mother of six.A devout communicant of Notre Dame Church in Springvale, she came from a very devout and pious Roman Catholic family which generated three priests, five religious sisters and two bishops. She passed along this devotion to her children and also the importance of education. She and her husband Paul saw to it that each one earned a college degree. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Paul E. Cote, in 2009. She was also predeceased by a son Daniel L. Cote and by three siblings, Raymond Trottier, Dr. Louis A. Trottier and Sr. Cecile Trottier, HSJ.Survivors include three sons, the Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, D.D. of Norwich, CT, Mark P. Cote and his wife Theresa of Springvale, Louis W. Cote of Jupiter, FL, two daughters, Susanne C. Sladen and her husband Mark of Saco, Ann Marie Flory and her husband Stanley of Voorhees, NJ, 13 grandchildren, Danielle Serar, Thomas Cote, Timothy Cote, Anthony Cote, Ian Sladen, Kristin Sladen, Sarah Coyne, Nathan Cote, Jacqueline Mierkowski, Christina Flory, Kyle Cote, Michael Cote, Jenna Cote and 14 great grandchildren.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
