Andrew Cote

December 18, 2008
Andrew J. Cote, (AJ) 49, of Sanford, Maine, died on Thursday December 18, 2008 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He was born in Methuen, MA, on January 5, 1959 to Gerard and Lorraine (Maryea) Cote, where he lived as a young boy and attended local schools and churches. Later in life he moved to Salem, NH, Amesbury, MA, Derry, NH, Plaistow, NH, Wells, ME and to Sanford. First and foremost AJ was a family man. He will be sadly missed by all, but all of his family was very blessed to have many fond and happy memories of their Dad and their "Bumpa", that will forever live in their hearts.AJ was a very gifted musician and was known in the New England area, playing in many bands throughout his life, including, but not limited to The View, Illusion, Ice 9, 24 Karat, The Joni C Band, when he won many awards in Las Vegas for Instrumentalist of the Year and Rising Star, the Heather Walker Thompson Band, and Last Shot. His father bought him his first guitar at the age of 7, and AJ learned everything on his own. He would sit in his room for hours each day until he would perfect each song. He had the most perfect ear for music and his god-given talent for music was shown each time he performed. There was not a song that he could not play. Once he heard it, he could play it. His guitar was a part of him. He performed like no other. His entire heart and soul went into each song and each guitar lead AJ ever played and every person that had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy hearing AJ Cote perform knew this. AJ is predeceased by his parents, Gerard Regis Cote and Lorraine Maryea Cote. His is survived by his wife, Kristie Signor Cushing Cote of Sanford and formerly of Plaistow, NH, children, Laurie Beth Giles of Sanford and formerly of Tamworth, NH, Vikki Marie Corbridge of Lovell, ME and formerly of Tamworth, NH, Michelle Burns Johnson of Sanford and formerly of Tamworth, NH, James Nicholas Blynn of Wells, ME and formerly of Plaistow, NH, one brother, Edward G. I remember meeting Andy though local musicians.
I remember seeing him play at the
Frost Arena in Lawrence Ma,
With Carmen.
I can tell you that they rocked
The house down. I remember the long hair and the two Gibson SG guitars.
He passed on a lot of valuable musical knowledge , as I remember him and his girlfriend hanging out with my friends. There’s nothing like a dad buying his son an instrument when they’re young.I’m sure his parents are proud of him.
I also remember the very few times I met him.He was always smiling.
