Gabrielle T. Corriveau
Gabrielle T. Corriveau, 86, of Sanford, died on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford.Gabrielle was born in Mexico, Maine on March 10, 1928 to Antonio and Alice (Contois) Filion. She grew up in Biddeford and Springvale where she attended the local Catholic schools.During her working life she had been employed at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, Vermont. She also babysat for people and worked in the Goodall Textile Mills in Sanford. On May 28, 1949 she married Marcel Corriveau and together they shared 52 years of marriage until his death in 2001. Gabrielle was a devout Catholic. She prayed the Rosary often and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and going bowling. She also enjoyed going dancing when she was a younger woman. She had been a devoted wife and daughter, lovingly caring for both her mother and her mother-in-law when they became elderly. She will be remembered as a kind and caring woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Gabrielle was predeceased by her husband, Marcel J. Corriveau and a brother, Roger Fillion.Surviving are two brothers, Robert Filion and his wife Sharon of East Haven, Connecticut and Gerard Fillion and his wife Gloria of Killingworth, Connecticut; a special cousin, Monique Lemay of Springvale and nine nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 23rd at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, located on Payne Street in Springvale.
