Ethel L. Cookson
Ethel L. Cookson, 91, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday November 24, 2013 at the Pavillion in Sanford. She was born in Springvale on May 24, 1922 a daughter of the late Ralph and Ada (Litzenburger) Littlefield. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1940.She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish. She volunteered much of her time at the Newton Center.She is predeceased by her husband, Roland Cookson, sister, Ruth Feeney, half sisters, Mary Acker, Sophie Lessard, half brothers, William Greims, Herbert Greims. She was very much loved and will be dearly missed by her children, Carol Griggs and her husband, Stan of Rochester, NH, Stephen Cookson Sr., and his wife, Everline of Acton, ME, Rachel Dubreuil and her husband, Ted of Farmington, NH, eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, two brothers, Ralph G. Littlefield of Florida, Donald W. Littlefield of Springvale, ME, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank the staff at the Pavillion as well as the Sol Amor Hospice for the outstanding care given to their mother.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 6th at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux, Holy Family Parish.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 170 US RT 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
