Virginia M. Brogan

South Portland- Virginia M. Brogan, 70, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Virginia was born in Portland, Maine on November 16, 1946 the daughter of the late Michael and Ann (McGardle) Conley. She attended local schools graduating from South Portland High School and then received her Associates Degree in Business.
In 1971 she married Charles F. Brogan Jr. at Holy Cross Church in South Portland. Together, they made their home and raised their family in South Portland.
She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Cross Church.
Virginia worked more than twenty years in the South Portland school department where she worked as a secretary in the office, worked as an aide and worked in the school lunch room. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed doing puzzles, playing Yahtzee and rummy, trips with her husband to Vermont, drives to the beach with her son, or just spending time surrounded by her family.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Charles F. Brogan, Jr., in 2014; three sisters, Anna Flaherty, Catherine Hayden, and Rita Maiorano; three brothers, Philip, Thomas, and Fred Conley. She is survived by a son, Charles Brogan of South Portland; a daughter, Sheila Brogan-Sharrow and her husband, John-Charles Sharrow of Rutland, VT; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00am at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland, ME. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME 04101.
