Scarborough Donald Glencross Blodgett, 79, died on June 30, 2016, at Maine Veterans Home. He was born in Portland on March 3, 1937, a son of Albert J. and Frances C. (Curran) Blodgett. He attended Deering High School, graduating in 1955, and graduated from Yale University, class of 1959. He married Nancy-Ann Patterson on October 18, 1980 in South Portland. Don worked for Fairchild Semiconductor Company as an accountant for 32 years. He was a proud volunteer for the Portland Community Free Clinic since the beginning when it opened in 1993. He was also a member of the Portland Elks #188, National Association of Accountants, the Portland Players, and of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital and Maine Veterans Home for the excellent care that Don received. He was predeceased by both his parents and his brother, Albert J. Blodgett Jr. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy-Ann Blodgett; sister-in-law, Susan Blodgett; brothers, Douglas P. Blodgett, James E. Blodgett and his wife Linda; sisters-in-law, Sally-Lou Patterson, Mary-Jane Preble and her husband Charles; nieces, Julia Blodgett, Katherine Blodgett Gusmano , Theresa Weisman, Helen DosSantos, Caron Bryan, Terry Agnese, Lynn Preble, Kelly Davis, Sara Davis; nephews, John Blodgett, Douglas Paul Blodgett, Gary Coyne, Christopher Preble; and 19 great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of a wake, there will be a reception at Brunos Restaurant, 33 Allen Avenue, Portland, from 1-3pm on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Memorial contributions may be made in Dons memory to Portland Community Free Clinic, 103 India Street, Portland, ME, 04101, or the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, 1389 Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, ME, 04037.

  1. Sincere condolences at your loss. I am a very old friend of Jim’s — since we were very young children and the Blodgett family lived two streets over from my family. I remember very much admiring Donald and thought Jimmy was so very lucky to have all those big brothers.
