PORTLAND - Florence Elizabeth Allie, 79, of Portland, formerly of South Portland, died February 17, 2012 at Maine Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1932, at home on Taylor Street, South Portland, a daughter of Albert T. and Alice (Cloudman) Slater. She was the youngest of 13 children. Florence attended South Portland schools through the sixth grade, when she went to work to support her family. At the age of nineteen, she married Sam Allie of Lewiston and began raising her family. She lived in and around Portland until moving to South Portland in 1962. While raising her family, Florence was an avid Bingo enthusiast and enjoyed her regular walks at the Maine Mall. The last four years she spent at the Barron Center. She loved going to all of the daily activities with her "Barron Center Posse". Florence was predeceased by her parents; her husband Sam in 2007; daughter, Eleanor Gabrielski in 2008; and by her twelve brothers and sisters. Surviving are: a son, David C. Allie and his partner Bernard Knox of South Portland, two daughters, Pamela Bullard and her husband Ed of Greene, Deborah McGoff of New Gloucester; two grandchildren, Amy and Laurie Gabrielski, both of Lewiston. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, Maine. One of my fondest memories is of going on a fishing trip to Sebago Lake w/ David his dad in the VW Bus. I am glad that we were able to re-aquaint @ The Baron Center so many years later.
