Scarborough - Paul N. Grantz, 76, died on Thursday, February 28, 2019, after a long illness of Parkinson's disease, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late George R. and Gladys E. (Clark) Grantz. He grew up in Mineral Ridge, OH, attended local schools, and graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in the class of 1960. After graduating, Paul enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served honorably from 1960-1964. In 1964, Paul married the love of his life, Claudine M. Harmon, on Peaks Island. After serving in the Airforce, Paul worked at a Steel Mill and then moved to Maine to be closer to Claudine's family. Paul attended Husson University, worked for South Portland Engineering and General Electric as a buyer and purchaser until 1983. Paul then worked for F.W.Webb until he retired. In his free time Paul enjoyed watching the New England sports teams such as the New England Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins, golfing, woodworking, building and flying model airplanes, bass fishing with his boys, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren watching movies. Paul has a love of Eagles and would research and watch them by live video. Paul was a scout leader for the Boy Scouts on Peaks Island, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, Knight Council 8144. Paul was predeceased by two sons, James and Timmothy Grantz; sister, Sarah Isenberg; three brothers, George, Claire and David Grantz. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claudine Grantz of Scarborough; son, Paul Grantz of Scarborough; daughter, Becky Harbottle and her husband John of Scarborough; brother, Gerald Grantz and wife Kathy of OH; daughter in law, Luana Keating; 6 grandchildren, Allison, Lauren, Thomas, Rachel, Eric, Nick; and 3 great grandchildren. Visiting hours celebration Paul's life will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, March 5, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, March 6, at 9:30AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
