South Portland - Justin James Gorham, 29, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at his home.
Justin was born on January 4, 1989, in Portland, the son of James A. and Deborah Gorham. He grew up in South Portland, attended local schools and graduated from South Portland High School, Class of 2007. Justin was accepted to St. Joseph's College of Maine where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor's degree in History and a minor in Theology. History was one of Justin's passions, especially military history. Justin was a quiet guy until you brought up a topic of interest, then he could discuss the topic with you for hours.
Justin started working when he was in high school at Broadway Gardens. That is where his passion for gardening and horticulture began and carried into his adult life. He also most recently worked in a security capacity at Soli DG, Inc. and as a courier at FedEx. Justin also had vast imagination and critical thinking skills that allowed him the talent of being a fictional writer of heroic stories for which he won awards. He had a great sense of humor and a quiet inquisitiveness that made you want to engage with him. In his free time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gaming and acquiring new skills. Above all he had his love of his family and his close group of lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his father, James A. Gorham. He is survived by his mother, Deborah Harris and stepfather, Tom Harris of South Portland; a sister, Janine Marie Gorham of Portland; two brothers, Scott Gorham and his wife Sandra of MA, Jason Gorham and his wife Deanna of SC; three nieces, Lynne Lowell of Portland, Alexandra Gorham of MA, Olivia Gorham of SC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00-7:00PM on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Dear Deborah and Family, Justin was one of Taryn’s very first friends when we moved
to Fellows street. They played ball together and enjoyed many sunny days eating popsicles on
the swing set in our backyard. He was a kind and polite young boy as I remember. Please know we are sending you prayers and strength through this difficult time. God bless you all , Arlene Tanous- McCracken

I have countless great memories with Justin. From being in Boy Scouts with him to playing Air Guitar with him at Anime Boston. I. am very sad and heartbroken that he is no longer with us . Justin and I for a while worked at Broadway Gardens together. I remember being excited to go to work on the same days that he was working . Often him and I would walk over to his mother’s house to have lunch. Justin always had a good heart and care for people who were close to him. I wish I had been able to hang out with him more in the past few years then I had. Justin, I hope the after life treats you well. You will always be in my heart. RIP buddy.
