Howard J. Hilton

South Portland- Howard James Hilton Sr., 62, of Main Street, died peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a two year battle with gastric cancer.
He was born in Portland, Maine, the son of Charles and Winona Hilton. Howard was employed at Clean Harbors until his diagnosis. Howard had many hobbies including bowling, golfing and fishing. Howard enjoyed spectator sports and was an avid fan of NASCAR and the San Francisco 49ers. In his spare time, Howard enjoyed taking trips to Oxford Casino and was never without a scratch ticket.
Howard was predeceased by his father Charles P. Hilton Jr., and his mother Winona R. Hilton. Survivors include his son, Howard J. Hilton Jr. and his wife Sarah of Cape Coral, Florida; a sister, Deborah Carter of South Portland; three brothers, William Hilton and his wife Virginia of Humble, Texas, Charles P. Hilton III of South Portland and David Hilton of San Antonio, Texas; eight nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn and Paige Carter, Tracey Schoettelkotte, Heather Dumais, Travis and his wife Lou Ann Hilton, Victor Hilton, Bailey and Alexander Hilton and his granddaughter Taylor Hilton who was his pride and joy.
His family would especially like to thank the staff of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for caring for Howard in his final days.

I am saddened to hear of Howie’s passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Hilton family. I have many memories of Howie of so very many years ago.
