Patricia A. Sipos

patricia sipos
South Portland - Patricia A. (Dunn) Sipos, 74, passed away on October 19, 2019, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with her beloved husband, son, daughter, and grandson by her side. Patricia was born in Portland on June 28, 1945, the daughter of Michael J. and Mary (Ricci) Dunn. Patricia grew up in Portland, attending Cathedral High School and was a graduate of the class of 1963. After Patricia graduated high school, she was off and on her way to Washington D.C. to work a "civil service" job. Well, the short stint in D.C. lasted only three days and Patricia returned to Maine and found a job working at Days Jewelry. In addition, she also worked briefly for a local vending machine company. While the company couldn't pay her overtime, they did give her a juke box that was at the center of family fun for several years. Patricia was a "Jill" of all trades for a short time, until she found a job working at Blue Cross as a claim processor, spending 20 plus years there before retiring in 2008. That's only the beginning of Patricia's story, more so her work career. In 1967, Patricia met a gentleman from the U.S. Coast Guard named Richard (Rick) Sipos. As the story was told, Rick already knew he was going to marry her after they met on that day. That would spark the beginning of a 51-year marriage that started in Portland and migrated to the other side of the Casco Bay bridge to South Portland, having two children together, Lisa and Richie. It would be fair to say Patricia had many hobbies, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family that she loved and adored. Once the holidays came around, Patricia and Rick's home became the epicenter for all of the holiday functions. Not only was Patricia a great cook, she was a great baker, who won numerous awards (from family members) with her coveted peanut butter fudge and the Christmas morning egg frittata. When Patricia wasn't inducing food comas to family members, she had a love for gardening and maintaining her flower beds surrounding her house, camping in Limington at Sand Pond, going camping with her and Rick's fifth wheel, spending time with her classic car groups and friends and her 1940 pickup that she restored. Above all else, the most important aspect of her life was her grandson, Parker. She was a wonderful and supportive "Meme" who attended every sporting event, supported him in every way, and even taught him how to drive. Patricia's beautiful mind and strong, caring and "no bones about it" personality will be truly missed. She is survived by her husband, Richard Sipos of South Portland; her daughter, Lisa Sipos of South Portland; her son, Richie Sipos of Portland; grandson, Parker Sipos; sisters Maureen "Moe" Greenlaw of Biddeford and Margaret "Peggy" Ficket of Limington and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a nephew, Ryan Greenlaw. Visiting Hours celebrating Patricia's life will be held from 2-3PM, with a service at 3PM on Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Honoring Patricia's passion for classic cars, please bring your classic car to her services. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, PO Box 336, Portland, ME 04098 or the Dempsey Center, 778 Main Street, South Portland, ME 04106
