I remember Peter. I remember being about 8 and living in Riverton Park. My mom would bring my brother and I on the bus, and we would see Pete. I remember a candy or a peppermint and a hug. Over the years Peter became a friend. After he was forced to retire, I would meet him for coffee. He had seen all six of my babies, and held them. He was there for me during some of my darkest days, and truly cared about everyone. He was a conversationalist, and he had an awesome laugh. I really miss him, and our phone calls. I felt bad that he was alone so much, and wished I could somehow get to him more. Life just kept getting in the way. He loved his mom so much, and spoke about her alot. He would talk about the house she left him being all paid for, and how much he loved his home. Such a dear, sweet man with loving eyes. When he would smile, his eyes would crinkle at the sides. He spoke about his granddaughter and her children, and how much he loved her and his daughter. (Her mom). He said his granddaughter worked hard, and how proud he was of her. He loved them so much. I wanted to be there at his service to say goodbye. It was a really hard goodbye! My birthday was a month after his, in July. I was forty that year. Never goodbye old friend, see you later. I love you Pete!
