Looking thru the obituaries and hoping not to come across Marilyn’s name after recently talking to her when she wasn’t feeling well and needed to cancel her hair appointment. After 30 years of having her adorn my chair at several salons I have worked at . I’m sure it was the last thing she wanted to do, was cancel a hair appointment! Marilyn was not just a client who I saw every 4 weeks like clockwork. She was a beloved friend/second mom. So much so that I talked with her about so many things that were going on in her life. I always made a point to not only really listen but make sure she was taking care of herself. She was such a giving and loving person. Always taking care of her siblings when they needed her care. She always looked forward to her California visits to see her children and grandchildren. I always admired her sense of style. She was always so full of life and vibrant and “with it” ! She always brought me hot cross buns on at Patrick’s day… the Irish in her. And last February she gave me some early pussy willows , which I put in a vase and still enjoying them today. As well as many of our customers. I will miss Marilyn immensely . I already do. I even called her twice this week as I was worried about her and wanted to check in . All before I saw this obituary. After 30 yrs. – I hope she considered me a “daughter-like ” friend to her as that is how I felt with her ! I’m so sorry for the families loss. And would love to hear from any of them to tell me how this all came to be. I left my number on her voicemail box . Rest In Peace my dear sweet Marilyn . Your beloved hairstylist, “daughter” and friend, ~Shelley Worthing
