Robert M Raftice

robert raftice
Scarborough- Robert "Bob" Raftice, 84, passed away on June 10, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough following a long battle with Parkinson's. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Portland on March 26, 1934 to Francis A. and Barbara (Gorham) Raftice. He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, Richard. Bob was raised on Munjoy Hill, attended Portland schools, proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Worcester LC144, owned and operated Bob's Variety in Cape Elizabeth from 1962-1967 before joining the US Postal Service, retiring after 35 years. In 1958, he married Susan J. Murphy, and together they raised 5 children in Cape Elizabeth. Once retired, Bob thoroughly enjoyed retirement life: from all New England sporting events, children's and grandchildren's sporting events, cheering on his favorite "Notre Dame", celebrating his Irish heritage, summer visits to Higgins Beach, playing cards with friends, traveling winters to Florida, cheering on an occasional horse race (with a small wager included), Bob loved life. He was most proud of his family, and the love and respect they all had for each other. Bob leaves behind his wife of 60 years Susan, their daughters, Maureen (Raftice) Harvey and her husband Michael, Kathleen Raftice, Eileen Raftice and her husband Scott Lemelin, sons, Robert Raftice Jr and his partner Jessica Allen and James Raftice and his wife Heather (Gorham). Sisters-in-law, Jeannie Kelley and Kathleen Kelley. Bob also enjoyed the love of his 10 grandchildren, Michael Harvey Jr. and his wife Jessica, Janell (Harvey) Canaan and her husband Alex, Kayla, Elizabeth and Emma Raftice, Matthew and Carly Lemelin, Seamus, Brogan and Riley Raftice, along with 2 great grandchildren, Andrew and Annie Canaan. Bob will be forever remembered for his great smile, a twinkle in his eyes and his enormous love for friends and family, especially his wife Susan, "Mick". Susan and the family would like to thank the entire staff at the Veterans Home in Scarborough, especially Lacey, Pam and Jack, for the special love and attention they showed Bob. In addition a special thank you to Danielle Roy for her care and attention over the past year. 3. Andre Andre we love you.The greatest opportunity I received in life was under your stewardship while I was a agent for CLICO.At That time under the Leadership of the great Cyril Duprey.I moved from rags to riches.I did let you down but you give me an opportunity which made me wealthy. You had no children of your own but every human being was yours.I say goodbye until we all meet at Jesus feet. I remembered you at my wedding making my day most memorable only because of your intervention. You give me an advance of twenty five thousand dollars I went to America to shop for my wedding. Andre we love you.The greatest and best superintendent of agencies. You showered me with blessings that everyone was jealous over me. Rest brother we’ll meet at JESUS feet. I Can go on and on non stop because of your selflessness .The ephiany of a good human being. On resurrection morning I personally wants the permission to call your body up from the grave.Rest in peace my beloved brother. Cyri
