Most of all, Dottie loved spending time with her friends and family, who she adored. She was the life of the party. She loved music, dancing, socializing, eating a good lobster roll, sharing a glass of wine, “Just a speck sweetie pie.” and just having a good time. Some of her favorite hang outs were the Portland Eagles, Portland Elks, Moose Lodge, and the Italian Heritage. She also loved going to Romeo’s in Scarborough. Dottie was predeceased by two brothers, Edmund and John Murphy. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William Duffy of Scarborough; three daughters, Suzan and Ken Potito of York, Kathy and John Pappas of South Portland, Maureen Duffy of Scarborough; two sons William Jr. and Kristin Chase Duffy of Portland, John Duffy of Portland; eleven grandchildren, Kali Potito and her fiancé, Adam Arkell of Berwick, Elizabeth Potito of Nashville Tennessee, Alexia and Cody Bevier of Knoxville Tennessee, Talia Pappas of Nashville Tennessee, Nikko Pappas of Gray, Patrick and Kathryn Duffy of Portland, Michael and Jack Peary of Scarborough, and Maxwell and Isla Duffy of South Portland; one great-granddaughter, Kitsis Bevier of Knoxville Tennessee; a brother, Larry and Ellen Murphy of Portland; a sister, Judy McInnis of Scarborough; three sisters-in-laws, Patty Murphy of Portland, Susan Murphy of Michigan, Rita Duffy of South Portland, and many nieces and nephews. 1. Billy and Family, so sorry for your loss. We will always remember Dottie as a wonderful woman and friend.

    David & Jeannine

  2. I met Dottie when her children started school at Eight Corners School. I was their first grade teacher. She was a concerned and supportive parent. She became a friend through our connections of school and the children she loved so much❣️As years passed, Suzie and Kathie became babysitters for my two sons. My oldest son started school with Maureen … they became friends.
Dottie will be missed by many…
Sending love and hugs to her precious family❤️

  3. Everything, she was the most caring and loving grandmother. She would do anything for anyone and always knew how to make you smile. She had great fashion advise and loved to have a good time.

I’ll miss you so much Meema!

  4. I used to work at Portous on Congress Street. I would go into the bakery everyday before work. Mrs. Duffy always greeted me with a smile. We would talk for a few minutes. When she found out I went to school with Suzan and Kathy. She was excited. After that she would great me by name and ask me how I was and to have a good day and see you tomorrow. I would see her a few times over the years. And she would always say hi to me by name and ask how I was and what I have been up to. Mrs, Duffy was the nicest, sweetest lady. Sending Suzan, Kathy and Mrs. Duffy’s family my love and condolences. May she Rest In Piece

  5. It was the summer after Freshman year in college, we came up to visit Sue and of course that mean’t the entire Duffy family. Dottie (who I felt like I knew already because of us always talking about our families) was a hoot, from that point, I wanted to grow up and be Dottie. More beautiful than ever, tanning in her bikini by the pool, with a beautiful family and home. This became tradition every summer, memories I will hold so dearly. I am sending so much love and prayer to all my Duffy girls and guys, I love you all. XO

  6. OMG, where do you begin? Thanksgiving desserts, Christmas, 4th of Julys, Summers playing basketball or swimming with everyone, listening to Irish music on the reel to reel, riding in the station wagon, our beach visits, Miracle Whip (IYKYK).

  7. I cannot seem to find the words right now, but I hope when I get home I get to share my grief with my family. Love to you all.

  8. Always joyful and happy. A lovely lady. Rest in peace Dottie. My condolences to Judy and all of Dotties family.

    Rosemary Dolan Munson

  9. We always loved seeing Dottie and Maureen at Romeo’s when my father and I went there. She was so friendly and sweet and loved everyone. Dottie will be dearly missed. Please accept my deepest condolences Maureen and all of Dottie’s family.

  10. May the entire Duffy clan know the thoughts of the MacDonald family are with them on this day and every other. We’ll miss you Dottie.
