Cape Elizabeth- Mary Elizabeth Blair, 68, died peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 with her loving family by her side.
Mary was born in Portland, Maine on September 12, 1953 the daughter of the late Robert C. and Agatha M. (Devlin) Blair. She attended local schools graduating from South Portland High School in the class of 1971. She earned her degree in Nursing from the School of Nursing in Lewiston, Maine in 1975.
She worked at Maine Medical Center, Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and Mercy Hospital for several years before going to work in the medical department of UNUM. She retired in 2005 after more than a thirty-year career in nursing.
Mary attended the Royal Ridge Church of God and in later years, the South Portland Church of the Nazarene.
In her spare time Mary enjoyed playing softball, going to camp in New Hampshire, reading medical journals and mystery novels. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots Fan. She will long be remembered as warm, quick witted, fun loving and a friend to many. She was always willing to help others in any way she could, always spreading her bouquet of sunshine.
Mary is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Blair of South Portland, and twin sister, Barbara Nguyen and her husband Hien of KS; a brother, Robert Blair of NM; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jeanne Gaboriault of South Portland.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11am at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, Maine. I lived next door to Mary. We use to play kickball and baseball in the field with the other neighbors. I remember we was picking raspberries in the neighbors yard and the grandmother come out to water them. We all took off , but Mary she got stuck in the middle of the bushes. I love you Mary RIP
She was funny, kind , thoughtful and she would do anything for anybody.
My sympathies to entire Blair family! Mary was a great gal. May she Rest In Peace.

I played softball with Mary in the 1980’s and just loved her positive, happy attitude and disposition. I am sorry to hear of her passing and will always remember her fondly. Deepest condolences.

She was always the life of the party and loyal to her family and friends
I’m glad you are no longer suffering, I pray your mind is clear and you are happy now. I remember our Maine summers together. Making potato salads with EXTRA olives, making needhams and going to the bug light. Amato sandwiches at Range Pond. You always did your best to show us the best time every year. I’m grateful for our memories and I love you so much.
