Lucille V Costello

Scarborough - Lucille V. Costello, 91, died on Sunday, April 08, 2018, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Lucille was born in Gorham, NH, on November 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Philip and Alice (Gilbert) Garneau. She grew up in Gorham, attended local schools, and graduated from Gorham High school, class of 1944. Lucille married Peter M. Costello on October 12, 1950, in Gorham, NH. Together they traveled the country while Peter was enrolled in the United States Navy. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as an expert seamstress. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Olin; and a brother, Leo Garneau. Lucille is survived by her husband of 67 years, CDR. Peter Costello USN (Ret.) of Scarborough; two daughters, Mary Costello of Westbrook, Kate Donahue and her husband Chris of NY; three sons, Michael Costello of MA, John Costello and his wife Diane of MA, CAPT. Patrick Costello USN (Ret.) and his wife Susan of VA; two sisters, Pauline Vallee of NH, Puffy Webb of NH; and nine grandchildren, Sean, Michelle, Matthew, Andrew, Allison, Kirsten, Michael, Stephen, Ryan. Visiting hours and a celebration of Lucille's life will be held from 3:00PM-7:00PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 10:45AM on Thursday, April 12, 2018, followed by a 11:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
