Stephen Hart Wilcox

CAPE ELIZABETH - Stephen Hart Wilcox, 73, of Cape Elizabeth, formerly of Rochester, NY and longtime summer resident of Waterford, ME, died Sunday January 26, 2014 at Maine Medical Center following a long illness. He was born on February 25, 1940 in New York City, a son of Harry Anderson Wilcox, Jr. and Louise Gay Twyford Wilcox. Steve was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Hermon School in Mt. Hermon, MA. He graduated from Tufts University in 1962 with a BS in Engineering and he earned an MS in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1964. After this, he served for three years as an officer in the U. S. Navy on the USS Farragut. Steve's career at the Eastman Kodak Corp. extended over 30 years. During that time he worked in microfilm, the Business Information System department, and a co-venture with the Heidelberg Printing Company. He enjoyed a 2 year assignment in Taichung, Taiwan, R.O.C. On October 26, 1985 he married Polly D. Schwensen in Longmeadow, MA.Since his childhood, Steve and his family have loved spending time at Keoka Lake in Waterford, Maine. His father built a cottage many years ago at the lake, which was one of Steve's great passions. He was involved in the Keoka Lake Association over the years. He enjoyed problem solving and was an avid tennis player. Steve loved cars and driving. As a teenager, he restored a Model A Ford. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a shuttle driver at Berlin City Motors. Steve is survived by wife Polly Wilcox of Cape Elizabeth; daughter Elizabeth Disney Wilcox of Cape Elizabeth; son James Herbert Wilcox of Morristown, NJ; two sisters: Nancy Gay Wilcox Smith of Southbury, CT, Judith Carol Wilcox and husband Mordechai Friedlander of Chestnut Ridge, NY; brother Robert Willis Wilcox and wife Louise Miner of St. Paul, MN; several cousins, nieces, nephews and three grand-nieces. Visiting hours will be held 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106. A 1:00 p.m. Saturday funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Road, Portland, ME 04103.
