SOUTH PORTLAND - Shirley E. West, 83, of Grand St., died Wednesday, October 1, 1930 at the South Portland Nursing Center. Shirley was born in Damariscotta, Maine on December 15, 2014 the daughter of Lawrence F. and Evelyn L. Burnham Bryant. She attended schools in Portland and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1948. Shirley worked from home raising her three children. After the children were out of school, Shirley went to work for the Falmouth School Department for many years. She enjoyed going for drives in the car and always had a remodeling project going on at home. Her greatest love was the time she spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Harold West in June of 2000; and two brothers Floyston and Philip Bryant. She is survived by a daughter Sandra and Nelson Butler of South Portland; two sons Harold and Carlene West Jr. of Gray, Lawrence West Sr. of South Portland; two sisters Jennie Weeks of Wiscassett and Helen Nyboe of Round Pond; three grandchildren Wendy and Resty Sapuan of South Portland, Harold and Linda West III of Windham and Lawrence West Jr. of South Portland; two great grandchildren Gracie Sapuan and Kristen Byrnes both of South Portland. An hour of visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, followed by a 10:00am Graveside Service in Forest City Cemetery, Lincoln Street, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
