Portland- Gloria E. Turkovitz, 80, of Portland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2016 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough with family by her side. She was born in Orono, Maine on July 20, 1935 the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose Mary (Willette) Savoy. She attended local schools in South Portland. Gloria married John A. Turkovitz at St. John the Evangelist Church in South Portland on April 27, 1954. She worked for several years at Seaside Nursing Home in Portland. She was an active member of St. Pius X Church. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, and crocheting. In her younger years, she won a prized ice skating tournament. Gloria loved being a part of family activities and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Laughter was a hallmark of her personality and her sense of humor and caring spirit would attract those around her right until the very last days of her life. Gloria was predeceased by her husband John Anthony Turkovitz and a sister Beverly Farr. She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. McMann of Scarborough; a grandson Ryan McMann of Portland; three brothers Richard Savoy of Cape Elizabeth, Robert Savoy of South Portland, and Arthur Jr. and his wife Barbara Savoy of Augusta. Services will be private at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME 04101. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
