Joseph Rosaire St. Jean

Portland Joseph Rosaire St. Jean, 83, of South Portland, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Barron Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Grand Isle, ME, on October 12, 1932, a son of Elphege and Rose (Parent) St. Jean. His family then moved from Grand Isle to South Portland during WWII. Rosaire attended Cheverus High School and graduated in 1950. He joined the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War in 1952 and served until 1956. He was proud of his service to this country and attained the rank of ET2. He served aboard both the CGC Acushnet and the Mighty Eastwind W279. After leaving the Coast Guard he attended UMO and received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Following his graduation he taught at Winthrop High School and then at SMVTI. After leaving SMVTI he started his own business, Energy Savings Systems. He retired in 2014. He was predeceased by his sister, MaryJane Vosmus. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn St. Jean of South Portland; six daughters, Dianne Radomski and her husband Steve of Baltimore, Donna St. Jean of South Portland, Sue Everest and her husband John of Kennebunk, Julie Gervais of South Portland, Patty Brown and her husband Michael of South Portland, Michelle St. Jean of Saco; two sons, Eddie St. Jean of South Portland, Philip St. Jean and his wife Lisa of Lisbon Falls; four sisters, Verna DeCourcey, Imelda Clancy and her husband Jack, Geneva Lane and her husband Dick, Lucy Murphy; 25 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 3-6pm on Friday at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosaires memory to the Barron Center, 1145 Brighton Avenue, Portland, Maine.
My thoughts go out to Evelyn and family. How well I remember the visits we made to your home in South Portland when we were young! I even remember back to visiting Rosie with my Dad in Winthrop! Losing a Dad is hard…may you come to peace with it.
