South Portland Dorothy J. Smith, 79, of Highland Avenue, died on February 4, 2017, at Springbrook Nursing Center following a long illness. She was born on January 17, 1938, in Portland, a daughter of the late James and Minnie (Acorn) Sellick. She attended South Portland Schools. After high school Dorothy worked for the First National Bakery, formerly known as Nissans Bakery, for over 30 years. She retired in 1990. She was a long time member of the South Portland Church of Nazarene. Dorothy loved to take pictures while traveling, and animals. While she was at home, she enjoyed going to ceramics. She will be remembered as a loving, outgoing woman who loved to talk and visit with people. She is survived by a son, Douglas Smith of South Portland; a sister, Gloria Plummer and her husband Fred of South Portland; a brother, James Sellick of Arizona; several nieces and nephews. At the familys request all services will be private. A reception will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 11-12:30 at the South Portland Church of the Nazarene, Highland Ave., South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
