Rita P. Ronan

BIDDEFORD-Rita P. Ronan, 91, of Biddeford formerly of Wakefield, MA, died Monday January 28, 2013 at a healthcare facility. She was born in Portland a daughter of Thomas H. and Beatrice C. Hinds Fahey. She was a graduate of high school and a graduate of Carney Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts. Rita worked in the field of nursing as a younger woman. On July 3, 1943 she married Christopher L. Ronan in Portland. Together they raised 7 children in the Wakefield area. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. Rita was a devout Catholic and her life centered on her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1996; a beloved grandson, Joseph P. Ronan; a sister Jane Marston; two brothers, Paul and Thomas Fahey. Survivors include four daughters, Constance Theis and husband Peter of Florida, Christine Ronan of Biddeford, Catherine Moneypenny and husband Michael of Reading, MA, Carolyn Ronan of Biddeford; three sons, Thomas Ronan and wife Janet of Derry, NH, Paul Ronan and wife Elizabeth of Reading, MA, Peter Ronan of Dallas, TX; a brother, Richard Fahey and his wife Patricia of Westbrook; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday February 1, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 10:15 followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, corner of Broadway and Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
