Scarborough-Robert C. Peary, Sr., 88, of Highland Avenue, died April 23, 2016, at Pine Point Center in Scarborough. He was born in New York City on May 7, 1927, a son of Clayton W. Sr. and Florence (Amor) Peary. He attended Bridgton schools and graduated from Bridgton High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Robert married Emily E. Hines on November 15, 1947, in Yarmouth. He was self-employed as an auto mechanic and owned a service station and oil company on Route One in Scarborough from 1966 to 2002. He retired in 1989, spending his winters in Florida, enjoyed travel and attending bluegrass festivals. He is predeceased by his wife; a sister, Alice Mills; and a brother, Clayton Peary. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Dolloff of Standish; two sons, Robert C. Peary Jr. and his companion Karen Brackett of Scarborough and James C. Peary and wife Vicki of Scarborough; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and companion Mary Frederick of Fort Myers, FL. Private burial will take place at Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough. Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
