She had great stories from her childhood growing up during the Great Depression. She learned from her mother the value of saving a dollar. Her mother taught her about raising chickens and selling eggs. She was also responsible for delivering rent money by bike to a relative connected to an ice cream company. She would race back over the bridge to bring ice cream home before it melted. Elizabeth married George H. Mullen at Holy Cross Church in 1947. She went to work for the New England Telephone Company in the office. She then began a fulfilling career raising her family. When the kids were old enough, she launched her career in finance, beginning as an original employee of the St. John's Credit Union. She also managed the Greater Portland Credit Union and the Fairchild Semiconductor Federal Credit Union, which grew very successful while under her command. She was a loving, doting and hands' on mother, taking part in all aspects of her children's lives including serving as a Den Mother, Brownie Leader, teacher of Religious Education at St. John's and a baker of the best cookies. She had a great sense of humor and was a person who always saw the glass as half full. Elizabeth had a great passion for politics and was not afraid to provide her views to others. She had hoped to see a woman president. Elizabeth provided unconditional love to her children and always liked being in charge. Together with her family, she spent many wonderful times at the family cottage in Pine Point. Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband George H.
