Shirley T. MacCormack (Revised)

South Portland- Shirley T. MacCormack, 88, of Preble Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Maine Medical Center, her loving family was by her side. Shirley was born in Madison, WI on July 9, 1926 the daughter of Charles A. and Winnifred M. Brewer Tinckam. Shirley grew up in the Augusta area and graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1945. She then went on to receive her LPN degree from Portland Eye Ear. Shirley worked at the Togus Veterans Home for more than 14yrs. Her colleagues, friends and family all commented that Shirley was a very loving person, who never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was always willing to put others first and be there to listen whenever you needed her to. In her spare time, Shirley, enjoyed cooking, especially baking cookies and breads, playing beano, quilting, sewing and knitting. Her greatest love, however, was the time spent surrounded by her family, especially her children and her grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Leroy H. MacCormack on September 19, 2010; a son, Charles F. MacCormack. She is survived by a daughter Pamela A. Twombly of South Portland; a son Thomas L. MacCormack of Sabattus; a sister Mary Turner of Portsmouth, NH; two grandchildren Robert C. Twombly and his fianc Michelle Malek of South Portland, Jennifer M. Twombly of Scarborough; three great grandchildren Haley E. Sprague of Scarborough, Ellie E. Twombly of South Portland and Emma M. Twombly of Scarborough. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00am at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Rochester and Stroudwater Streets, Westbrook, ME. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, Maine.
