PORTLAND - Eileen G. Luttrell, 92, formerly of 75 State Street, died at Saint Joseph's Rehabilitation and Residence in Portland on October 27, 2011. Eileen was born in Portland on January 22, 1919, a daughter of Peter J. and Priscilla Pineau Luttrell. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in the Class of 1937. Eileen worked as a bookkeeper and accountant at Day's Jewelry Stores for 56 years. In her retirement, she worked four years at Yudy's Tire in Westbrook. She was a daily communicant and long standing parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and for many years was active in the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed traveling, especially her five trips to Rome. Eileen's life long effort was to live her Catholic faith to the fullest. She was both an inspiration and a model to her large family and to her many friends. Throughout her life, Eileen made herself available to everyone who sought her company and her advice. They were attracted to her ready smile, her genuine cheerfulness and her gentle ways. Eileen will be certainly missed by all who knew and loved her. Eileen was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Jeanette A. Manning and her husband Louis, Mary Lauretta Crowley and her husband Carleton, Eunice M. Carroll and her husband Patrick; her brothers, Louis J. Luttrell and his wife Phyllis, Eugene F. Luttrell and Gerald A. Luttrell and his wife Patricia. She is survived by her sister-in-law Adelaide Luttrell of South Portland; 107 nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephew, great-great-great nieces, great-great-great nephews and many friends across the United States. Eileen's family wants to thank the staffs of Mercy Hospital and St. Joseph's Manor for their loving care and compassion during her final days. Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 28th at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 8:15 a.m., Saturday, October 29th, at the chapel, followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland.
