Falmouth Eleanor Ellie Langlois, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Falmouth By The Sea. She was born on October 20, 1934, in North Yarmouth, to Frederick and Louise (Bornheimer) Etter. Ellie attended local schools, graduating from South Portland High School in 1953. She attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from the Inaugural Class of American Airlines College. She worked for American Airlines until her marriage to Frank Langlois on June 6, 1959. They were married in a small chapel at St Patricks Cathedral in New York City. Ellie Frank began their lives in the ski business, as founding owners of the Chalet Ski Sport Shops. Their first store, in Portlands Golden Triangle, was taken by the City for purposes of Urban Renewal. As a result, the hexagonal shaped Chalet Ski Sport Shop was the second building built in what has become the Maine Mall area. Frank worked in the wholesale end of the ski business, and under Ellies direction Chalet became one of the top ski retailers in the Northeast. She and Frank sold the business after 35 years to Eastern Mountain Sports. In April of 1969, their daughter Marianne was born. Ellie lovingly cared for Marianne at home for 27 years. Ellie is survived by her husband Frank of Falmouth; daughter, Marianne of CASA in Scarborough; sisters, Suzanne Lyford of Newport, NC, Nancy Rod Supiro of New Hartford, NY; nieces nephews, Diana Di Gioga, Kevin Hartford, Ron Hartford, Kirt Supiro, Scott Supiro and Dru Jones. Also, Franks sister, Marlene Greg McGovern, Ken McGovern, Kelly McGovern Shaw, Ellies adopted son Andrew Cloutier and her beloved cat Howie. Ellie was predeceased by her brother Leon Etter. The family would like to thank Ellies friend and devoted caregiver Marie Stowe and the staffs of Legacy Memory Care and Falmouth By The Sea for their care and kindness. Memorial contributions may be made in Ellies memory to the Josephine John Marr Alzheimers Research Fund at Brigham and Womens Hospital, 116 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02116.
