South Portland- Frank Keenan Jr., 84, died on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Maine Medical Center with his loving sons by his side. Frank was born in South Portland on January 21, 1933 the son of the late Frank Sr. and Gladys I. (Burnham) Keenan. He attended local schools. In 1951, Frank enlisted and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On October 5, 1957 Frank married Judith A. Sanborn. Together they lived and raised their family in South Portland. Frank worked as a driver for the Brinks Armored Car Company for more than thirty five years, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He served as a Captain of the South Portland Fire Department Engine No.5 and the Pleasantdale Engine No.3. In his early years he served as volunteer coach for the South Portland Youth Hockey. Frank will always be remembered by family and friends as a kind and giving person who was always willing to help others and give of his time, talents, and energy. He will be missed by many. Frank was predeceased by his wife Judith Keenan in 2012; three sisters, Pauline Bell, Frances Redstone, and Beverly Cole. He is survived by a sister, Madeline Hinkley of Embden; three sons, Frank III and his wife Lori Keenan of South Portland, Philip and his wife Stacy Keenan of New Gloucester, and Randall and his wife Kimberly Keenan of Windham; six grandchildren, James, Jessica, Austen, and Kyle Keenan, Tori Cavanaugh, and Rebecca Keenan. Several nieces and nephews. An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 9:00am to 10:00am at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. A funeral service will be held at the chapel at 10:00am with the Rev. Philip Shearman officiating. Burial will follow in Brooklawn Cemetery, Congress Street, Portland.
