South Portland-James H. B. Kane Jr., 80, of Broadway, died Monday, November 2, 2015, in Portland. He was born in Bangor on April 27, 1935, a son of James H. B. Sr. and Veronica Mary (Parsons) Kane. He graduated from Cathedral Junior High School as valedictorian, was an honors student at Cheverus High School, class of 1954, and a graduate of Gorham State Teachers College, class of 1958, He was a teacher in North Yarmouth and Falmouth Schools (School Union 13). During the 1960s, Mr. Kane participated in the teachers tour where he had the opportunity to visit 36 countries in Europe and North Africa. He enjoyed photography and traveling and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in South Portland. He was a member of the National Education Association and Maine Teachers Association. He is survived by his cousin, Bernard F. McMullan and wife Patricia and their son Paul McMullen, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Special thanks are extended to the wonderful caregivers at Springbrook Nursing Center and St. Josephs Rehabilitation Center. Visiting hours will be 4:00-6:00 pm, Monday, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Tuesday,at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
