Martha Marcie Hill

March 6, 1960 ~ June 11, 2015
Martha A. Marcie Hill, 55, of Windham, formerly of South Portland, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Maine Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Portland on March 6, 1960, Marcie was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Norton) Mills. She graduated from South Portland High School Class of 1978 and from SMCC in 1980. Marcie was employed with Shaws Supermarket as a Store Manager for 32 years, retiring from the store in Windham. Following retirement, Marcie worked as a phlebotomist in Auburn. Marcie was known for her love of the outdoors whether she was skiing at Sunday River or camping on Brandy Pond. Recognizing that each day was something to be thankful for, Marcie went out of her way to make every day an important day. She inspired and touched everyone she met with her caring, helping and genuine nature. Marcie was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Above all else in her life, Marcies top priority and devotion were for her family. Her strength, courage, and selflessness made her a loving wife and mother who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Hill of Windham; her children, Hannah Grace Hill and Thomas Carleton Hill of Windham; sisters, Barbara Mills of Scarborough, Mimi Gray and husband Gordon of Windham, Anita Upton and husband Kenneth of NH; brother Michael Mills and wife Anne of Otisfield; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7PM in the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9:15AM followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough. Burial will be private. To view Marcies memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit www.ctcrawford.com. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to: Maine Cancer Foundation 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
So many childhood memories with Marcie growing up in Sunset Park and Thornton Heights. Softball, skating, school, and many firsts. It was a pleasure reconnecting in adulthood and discovering a seamless friendship. Seeing her last summer was truly a highlight during a difficult time. So many memories to share but this one comes to mind today… Singing like no one was watching or listening to “Me and Bobbie McGee” JJ. My sincere condolences to her family. She was a rare gem.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This is one of the most difficult things we must face in this life. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. But the bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. He also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! He also promises that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death. Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love. May these bible thoughts bring you comfort at this most difficult time.
