Robert E. Earles

South Portland-Robert E. Earles, 80, of South Portland, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, February 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness. Robert was born January 1, 1937, the New Years Baby in Portland, a son of Martin F. and Helen G. (McLaughlin) Earles. He grew up in Portland and attended Portland Schools. He married the love of his life, Flora A DiBiase on April 4, 1959. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage until she passed away in 2000. Robert worked at Nissens Bakery in Portland as a foreman. He had a strong work ethic and was a great example for his four children. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He could always be found at various school and sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great grandson. He also served in the National Guard, which he was very proud of. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, his son Robert J. and ten of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Cathy Lestage and husband John of Standish, Carol Newcomb and her husband Donald Jr. of South Portland, and Cindi Earles of South Portland; a sister, Patricia Darling of South Portland; four grandchildren, Amanda Newcomb, Kaylee Newcomb, Donald Newcomb III, and Colby Earles; a great grandson, Dexter Libby. And not to forget his grand dog, Bullet, who was always by his side. An hour of visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 3:00-4:00PM at Conroy Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A funeral service will follow at the chapel at 4:00pm. Burial will be at the New Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 12:30pm.
