PORTLAND - Ermena "Mena" Marie DiBiase, 89, of Portland, died January 29, 2012, at a local hospital. She was born in Portland, the daughter of John B. Peverada, Sr. and Annetta Dordoni Peverada. She attended local schools. She married Edward R. DiBiase in 1946. They made their home on in Portland where they raised their family. Edward predeceased her in 2005. Mena loved her family above all things and was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a substitute mother for all her family and friends. Coffee was always on at her home of fifty-four years on Read Street, along with candy and Italian cookies. She presented each guest with two of her knit dish cloths. Family reunions and gatherings were a special joy. She was an avid fan of the Patriots and Red Sox and was delighted to attend her grandchildrens' sporting events. Ermena was a long time communicant of St. Pius Church. In addition to her husband, Ermena was predeceased by three sisters, Angelina McEntee, Mary Barter and Annette Aceto; and a brother, Bartholomew Peverada. She is survived by a daughter, Annette Henderson and her husband Richard of Gorham; a son, Edward DiBiase, Jr. and his wife Claire, of Hollis; a sister, Edith Lefebvre of Portland; three brothers, Anthony "Tony" Peverada and John Peverada, Jr. and his wife Dorothy, all of Portland, and Caesar Peverada and his wife Kiyo, of Hawaii; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and great-nieces and nephews. Mena's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and neighbors Richard Hutchins and Patricia Eltman, the staff at VNA, Apria Health Center, the Barron Center, Maine Medical Center, Dr. Edward Grecco, Dr. David Burkey, and Dr. James Katz. Special thanks are extended to all who provided special care, support, and prayers. Visiting hours will be Friday, February 3, 2012, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the chapel at 9:15 am, Saturday, February 4, followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Avenue, Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.   1. My condolences to Mena’s family during this difficult time. I had the opportunity and privilege of meeting her recently, and wish I had known her for a longer time. She had a sense of humor and made me smile! She has a very supportive family, and I know she’ll be missed.
