Portland- Stanley J. Danilewicz, 78, of Woodmont Street, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, February 04, 2015. Stanley was born in Portland, Maine on August 8, 1936 the youngest of five children to John and Veronica Barkowsky Danilewicz. He attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1954. After high school Stanley enlisted and served in the United States Army, working high security guarding missiles. He was stationed all over the world including Germany, Japan and Alaska retiring after many years of service. Once he retired from the military he returned home to work with his brother in law in the family business, Edmunds Window Cleaning, retiring in 2002. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing the lottery, a lover of country music, an avid reader of the newspaper and lifelong fan of the Boston Red Soxs. Stanley was predeceased by his parents; two sisters Edna Grzyb and Wanda Dylewski; a brother Edward Danilewicz. He is survived by a sister Helen Danilewicz of Portland along with several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 8:15am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the funeral home followed by a 9:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Catholic Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ctcrawford.com
