Henry "Armand" Daley

SCARBOROUGH - Henry Armand Daley, 91, of Scarborough, diedNovember 4,2014 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice. Armand was born on November 9th, 1922 to Henry and Marie (Culligan) Daley in Beldune, New Brunswick, Canada. At six months of age he and his family moved to Westbrook. An outstanding athlete, he was captain and 2nd baseman of the Telegram League Champion baseball teams from 1938-41 for Westbrook High School. He was also an avid hockey player. Armand honorably served our country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a navigator and side gunner on a B25 Bomber. Returning to Westbrook in 1945 he attended Barber School and practiced the trade for 5 years at Brunos on Main Street. He married Delima Martin on November 22, 1947. She predeceased him on April 28, 1962, leaving him with four young children. Armand then married Anita Richard Card on June 20, 1964. Together they raised six children. After retiring from S.D. Warren after 30 years of employment, he enjoyed golfing at Gorham Country Club especially with the over the hill gang. Armand and Anita enjoyed several winters of golfing in Myrtle Beach, SC. The couple was blessed with sixteen grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren all of whom will surely miss Armands homemade bread, pies and cookies. He was predeceased by second wife, Anita, on December 10th, 2012, his siblings, Earl, Charles and Rhoda. He is survived by his sister Katherine (Kay) Shannon, a brother-in-law, Eugene Richard and a sister-in-law, Theresa Payne. Armand is survived by his children, Patricia Driscoll and husband, Robert of Green, Patrick Daley and Linda Field of Saco, Jeffery Daley and wife, MaryAnn of Cumberland, MD, William Daley and wife Maria of Santa Clarita, CA, Lyndell (Card) Lavigne and husband Mark of South Portland and Richard Card and Deborah Scott of Brownfield. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 8:15AM Friday at the Funeral Home followed by a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough. Burial to follow at St. Hyacinths Cemetery in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Center For Grieving Children, 555 Forest Avenue, Portland, ME 04101.
