SOUTH PORTLAND - Helen E. Crangle, 98, of Wilson Street, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland on November 3, 1915, a daughter of Michael J. and Marion F. (Holbrook) McDonough. She graduated from South Portland High School, class of 1934, and attended Northeast Business School. She married William H. Crangle Sr., on June 2, 1941, at St. John the Evangelist Church in South Portland. She worked for AAA Maine Automobile Association from 1936 to 1942, and then left the workforce to raise her family. She returned to work in 1956, working for the law firm of Jensen, Baird, Gardiner Henry. She retired in 1975. She enjoyed summers spent camping on Sebago Lake and traveling with her husband. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She is predeceased by her husband who died June 5, 2005. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Lawrence and her husband William of Birmingham, Alabama; four sons, William H. Crangle Jr., Robert F. Crangle and his wife Linda, and James M. Crangle and his wife Elaine, all of South Portland, and Donald J. Crangle and his wife Debra of Standish, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 8:15 am, Wednesday, at the Chapel, followed by a 9:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 US Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074, or a charity of one's choice.Online condolences may be expressed below.
