Portland-Thomas W. Coyne, 61, of High Street, died unexpectedly, Saturday, August 15, 2015, at his home. He was born in Portland on May 8, 1954, a son of Joseph B. and Maxine (Conant) Coyne. He attended St. Dominics Grammar School and graduated from Portland High School. He worked as a carpenter on many construction projects in the Portland area. Thomas was a very proud member of Portlands vibrant Irish community. He was delighted to have been born, raised, and educated on the West End. His outgoing and kind nature resulted in many lifelong friendships. He is predeceased by his father who died March 17, 1965. His is survived by his mother, Maxine Conant Morgan and his second father, John Morgan of Portland; a brother, Brian Coyne and companion, Gail Bursk of Portland; two sisters, Maureen Coyne Norris and her husband Robert of Portland, Katie Coyne Boyd of Westbrook; his former wife Mary Foster Amoroso, of California; two step-sons, Peter Amoroso of California and Matthew Amoroso of South Portland; a niece, Anne Coyne of Westbrook, a nephew, Matthew Boyd and fiance Ryan Vaughn of Dover, New Hampshire; two great-nephews, Pierce Gould of Westbrook and Mason Boyd of Dover, New, Hampshire. A celebration of Thomas life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, at the Maine Irish Heritage Center, corner of Gray and State Streets, Portland.
