SOUTH PORTLAND - Paul H. Conroy, 45, died unexpectedly Thursday July 11, 2013, in Portland. He was born April 10, 1968, in Portland, a son of Joseph P. Sr. and Elizabeth (Howard) Conroy. He spent his childhood and youth in South Portland, where he attended local schools. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and trained at the Great Lakes Naval Station. Afterwards, he received advanced training at the Naval Weaponry School from which he graduated second in his class. Thereafter, he was assigned to a Destroyer of the Pacific Fleet. Following his military service, he resided in San Jose, California, where he worked for a Ferrari Dealership while he attended Notre Dame College in Belmont. In college, he became active in athletics. There, he played tennis and was a very enthusiastic Tri - Athlete. His coach asked him to become the school's first decathlete. Paul graduated with a degree in Political Science, intending to become a lawyer. Though he was accepted by three law schools in California, fate intervened. While working at the Ferrari dealership during college, he and a co-worker decided to improve the floppy material covering the front portion of the Ferrari automobiles. Some of the company's clients loaned them their vehicles during week-ends to test their early products. Eventually, they succeeded in developing a unique product. Ultimately, Boxster, Corvette, and Ferrari dealerships, and owners purchased from his company - "Speed Lingerie." Paul and his wife visited many car shows throughout the United States to display their vehicle wearing its "Automobile Bra." Paul is survived by his son Patrick in California; his sister Ann, her husband Michael, and daughter Kristina; his brother Joe Jr, his children Joe III and Emily; and his brother John, his wife Mary and daughter Olivia. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday July, 16, at Conroy - Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 10:15 am Wednesday July 17, at the Chapel, followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church corner of Broadway and Cottage Rd., South Portland. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.

  2. My sympathy goes out to Paul’s family my heartfelt condolences to his Mother Ibby and Father Joe and Family. Paul has maybe gone but; his memory will always live on. I feel his presence around me, telling me it’s ok, I know I am in a better place for me no longer stuffer, am happy too. He is with God and family that have passed away a long time ago. Paul will be missed by all those lives he touched. His warm smile and his joking around will be missed as well. Not only did I lose a Cousin however a classmate as well. Both Paul and God are both looking down from heaven and smiling at Pauls’ life. It was a great life, and now Paul sits in the loving arms of his creator and the right hand side of God the Father may God bless his family at this sorrowful time of grieving.

Paul was a beautiful person who brought humor and light into the lives of his friends and aquaintences, he carried a large burden in his heart but never denied those around him of love and truly cared for others. I am glad to have known him, he has taught us all a great many lessons, I hope that everyone affected by this can only grow closer to God from this experience and support eachother. My prayers are with his family and friends today.
