SOUTH PORTLAND - Lorraine Beatrice Raymond Spaulding Coggins, 81, of South Portland, died April 30, 2012 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born November 26, 1930 in Mechanic Falls, a daughter of Lawrence D. and Edith (Nay) Raymond. Lorraine was a 1949 graduate of Mechanic Falls High School. Following high school, Lorraine attended Rumford Community Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1953. Lorraine worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey for several years. She later worked as an industrial nurse for Burnham and Morrill, Fairchild's and at the S.D. Warren Paper Mill. She also worked in area nursing homes and as a homecare nurse.Family was the focus of her life. In recent years she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren Abbie and the twins Tim and Jason. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, a half- brother Lt. Lawrence Dana Raymond, Jr. during WWII and a brother Roger Raymond. Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Lynn C. Meuse and her husband Philip of Gorham; two sons, Michael G. Spaulding and his wife Diane of Lewiston, Robert L. Spaulding and his wife Susan of Wallkill, New York; ten grandchildren; a sister, Ruth A. Snyder of South Portland; three nephews and several cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend an hour of visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Burial will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland. Those desiring may make donations to the Cleo Fund, 346 Danforth Street, Portland, Maine 04102.Online condolences may be expressed below.

  2. Rainey was an angel sent by God for so many people. He rtwo loves in life were her family, and taking care of others. She was a superb nurse. She new what she was meant to do and did it regardless of what others thought should be done. I have great respect for my cousin and am very proud of her. Just last week she was letting me know what to tell the Dr’s to look for to help my mom. She was right and the Dr’s hadn’t even though of looking for what she had said. This was Rainey, she thought things threw and new when she was right. Lorraine God bless you for everything you have done for others. May you now have the rest you so much deserve.
