South Portland- George P. Christensen Jr., 60, of Highland Ave, died peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Portland, Maine on September 25, 1954, the son of George Sr. and Theresa Meehan Christensen. He graduated from South Portland High School in the class of 1973 and went on to get his Associates Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine. George worked for Verizon Telephone Company for several years before health issues forced him in to taking an early retirement. He was predeceased by his mother Theresa and a sister Betty. He is survived by his father George P. Christensen Sr. of South Portland; his wife of 27 years Linda Christensen of South Portland; a son Kyle Christensen of South Portland; a daughter Julie and her husband Kirk Armstrong of Portland; 6 grandchildren Jack, Henry, Charlie, Emma, Sadie and Penelope Armstrong all of Portland; a sister Linda and her husband John Mayol of Westbrook; two brothers David and Robert Christensen of South Portland. Georges family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Brett Loffredo, his Maine Transplant Team and his nurse, Lee of Hospice of Southern Maine for their wonderful care at the end of his life. A private burial will take place in the spring as well as a double service for George and his sister Betty.
