Saco - Marion Roberts Stevens, 94, formerly of 108 Capisic Street, Portland, died peacefully on January 27, 2023 in Saco where she had been living for the past 3 years, with her nephew Michael, wife Erika and family. Marion was born on July 17, 1928, in South Portland, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (Gregor) Roberts. She grew up in South Portland where she attended local schools and graduated from South Portland High School in the class of 1946. After high school she worked for Porteous Mitchell & Braun, various other clerical jobs, and at Hannaford Brothers Store in the accounting department. After Hannaford Brothers, she worked for the Portland Press Herald in the business office, followed by Oransky-Elliott Advertising Agency as Media Director, and retired from George Elliott Advertising in 1991. She was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Church, was active in the Womens' Council, and a communicant of St. Pius X Church. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, and was a member of the Riverside Golf Course. She travelled to many parts of the world with her husband, William Stevens, who died in 1987. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William Stevens; sister, Connie Muia; brothers, Warren, Harold, Philip, Lawrence Sr., William, John, and Raymond Roberts. She is survived by her sister, Doreen Fecteau and husband Armand of Biddeford; step-son, John Stevens of Wells; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Northern Lights Hospice for their care and comfort to help Marion pass peacefully at home. Visiting hours celebrating Marion's life will be held from 1-3PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited in the chapel at 10:15AM on Monday, February 6, 2023, followed by a 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105

  1. Marion and Bill were neighbors on Capisic St., when I was growing up. They were an elegant couple. Later, after Marion lost Bill and my dad, Clarence, lost my mother, they became great friends. They traveled the country as part of the rose world. Marion was the best friend my father could have had all those years. Thank you, and rest in peace, Marion

  2. Marion was the best neighbor. She was funny, fun-loving, kind and thoughtful. I never tired of her stories about traveling the world with her husband and attending rose shows with her dear friend Clarence.
