William Edward Huston

Limington- William E. Huston, 81, died peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his loving family by his side.
William was born in Portland, Maine on July 8, 1937 the son of the late Martin T. and Mary A. (Wallace) Huston. He attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1955. He enlisted and served in the United States Marines.
On July 18, 1964, William married the love of his life, Shirley Burrill at St. Patrick's Church in Portland.
Following high school, William went to work at Bancroft & Martin Steel Corporation for more than 20+years. He then worked as truck driver for the Aurora Casket Company, a position he held for 15+years until his position was eliminated, he ended his working career at T.J. Maxx, retiring in 2011.
In his spare time, William loved horse racing and could often be found at Scarborough Downs, he was an avid New England sports fan following the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, and the Patriots. He and Shirley enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and he had the opportunity to travel to Ireland with his daughter in law, the trip of a lifetime. His greatest passion was the time he spent surrounded by, and caring for his family which earned him the nickname of "The Chief". His son commented that he would call family members several times a day just to check in and make sure everyone was alright.
William was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Huston in 2006; a sister, Maureen Spears; two brothers, John P. and Frank W. Huston. He is survived by two sons, William M. and his wife Linda Huston of Las Vegas, and John and his wife Jennifer Huston of Limington; a daughter, Jodi and her husband Michael Emmons of S. Berwick; three grandchildren, Katie and Kristina Emmons of S. Berwick and Steven Durham of Bridgton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
