Ronald A McLean

Augusta- Ronald A. McLean, 58, of Riverside Drive died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Maine Medical Center.
Ron was born in North Yarmouth, Maine on February 4, 1960 the son of the late Harold A. and Audrey M. (Patterson) McLean. He attended local schools in Portland and graduated from Deering High School Class of 1978.
Following high school, Ron enlisted and served in the United States Army until he was given an honorable discharge due to a disability.
Ron loved being outside, whether he was spending time on the lake in his boat that he rebuilt, camping with his nieces and nephews, or riding his motorcycle. Ron's family commented that he was always puttering around and could fix any engine. He had a strong affection for cats and enjoyed watching horror movies. Ron had a passion for helping others; he spent countless hours helping the homeless and volunteered to drive veterans to doctor's appointments. His greatest love was the time he spent surrounded by his family. Ron will long be remembered as a funny, caring and selfless person.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Susan Greenlay. He is survived by a brother, Greg McLean of Gorham; two nieces, Samantha McLean of Gorham and Joanna Greenlay of NH; a nephew, Arthur Greenlay of NH and a great niece, Audraya McLean of Gorham.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00am at Evergreen Cemetery, Stevens Ave., Portland, ME.
